- Preheat oven to 350°F. In a bowl, gently mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, diced onion, salt, and pepper. Form into 6–8 patties and set aside.
- Heat a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high. Brown patties 3–4 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
- Add butter to the skillet. Sauté sliced onion until soft. Stir in flour and cook for 2 minutes. Gradually whisk in beef broth and cream. Stir in garlic powder.
- Return patties to skillet, spooning gravy over. Cover with foil and bake 45 minutes. Uncover and bake 15 minutes more.
- Let rest 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy hot over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.
Notes
For extra flavor, add mushrooms or a splash of Worcestershire sauce to the gravy. Make ahead and reheat gently for best texture. Pairs beautifully with green beans or dinner rolls.
